The importance of Link building
Link building is the heart of any search engine optimization
campaign. It is inarguably more important than on-site optimization, as
links are the primary determinants of how websites are ranked on Google or any
popular search engine. Of course, it is also critical for your website
content to be search engine optimized. Keep in mind, even if all your on-site
factors were 100% perfect, your website would never rank well for any valuable
key phrase without links.
What has changed in Link building ?
Acquiring high-quality links is harder than ever. In
the early days of search engine optimization, all it took to get ranked well
was to trade links with enough similar websites, and in almost no time you
would be ranked close to number one for your targeted key phrase.
Sometimes you didn’t even need to build links – just stuffing large quantities
of targeted keywords into your pages was enough. But times have changed.
Not only are there far more websites competing in every industry, but
search engine algorithms have become significantly more advanced and
sophisticated. Virtually every technique that worked in the early 2000s
will actually cause harm in today’s environment. For example, direct
reciprocal link exchanges, where a website links to you in return for you
linking to them, will no longer benefit your rankings. The value of
submitting to directories has also declined substantially. Essentially,
if a link is very easy to get, it’s almost worthless.
What is the solution?
That’s not to say “easy” links have no value, but they must
be acquired properly and be outnumbered by stronger links. A general
rule of link building is to have as diverse a link profile as possible.
This means gaining links from as many different domains as possible, as long as
those domains don’t host spam. Therefore, links from self-made
sources like website and article directories, blog comments, forum posts, and
Web 2.0 properties still have value, and are a healthy part of any link profile
when combined with higher quality sources. For some long-tail key phrases
with little competition, these simple methods alone can be effective for
achieving a high ranking, provided they are executed correctly. However,
for highly competitive terms, you will undoubtedly need a sizable amount of
much stronger links.
Here comes the need for links from reputed high page ranking
websites. Links from high PR websites have become very important. Google
appreciates and recognises these links because these websites have authority.
Hence backlinks from these websites are very important.
But can you get backlinks from these high PR websites ? Yes,
you can. Not only that, these links are safe and will help you rank your
website on google.
